The court heard that the accused stole the number plate of a car belonging to one Gideon Olu.
A 58-year-old man, Eleshin Ojuola, who allegedly stole a car number plate valued at N35,000, was on Wednesday, September 6, arraigned in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
Ojuola, of no fixed address, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 4 at Ori Oke, Itoga area of Badagry.
Ikem said the accused stole the number plate of a car belonging to one Gideon Olu.
“The car was parked on the street when the accused stole the number plate. He has been on the run since then and was just apprehended,” he said.
The offence, he said, contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till October 5 for further hearing.
