To gauge how long you’ll live, watch your penis!

For the male sex organ to be deemed worthy of reverence, it must be ready for lasting actions as the need arises.

And that’s why researchers are of the view that if you want to have a fair idea of how long you’ll live, don’t look too farther away from your manhood.

Scientists warn that a limp penis that cannot withstand the task bestowed on it by nature predisposes its owner to 70 percent increased risk for premature death!

A study by scientists at The University of Mississippi finds that if a man is unable to get hard, it’s often an early sign that he has heart disease.

An Associate Professor of Urology at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Tobias Köhler, also warns that men whose erectile dysfunction is caused by poor cardiovascular health almost always end up having life-threatening heart problems such as a heart attack within five years of diagnosis.

He warns that the vessels that carry blood to the penis get clogged easily because they are tiny, as they are only one to two millimetres wide. When the arteries are clogged, physicians say, it might be difficult to get an erection.

Köhler says if the plaque continues to build, it will start affecting larger arteries such as the ones that carry blood to and from your heart. This can cause a heart attack or sudden death, he says.

“That is why men who suffer from erectile dysfunction must be examined by the doctor, instead of resorting to self-medication.

“If you heed the early warning sign, you may be able to fix your cardiovascular problems before they become fatal,” Köhler says.

He adds that men who have been unable to get or sustain erection for three months must see the doctor urgently.

“Tell your doctor about your erection problems — and make it the first thing you bring up, so your doctor has time to thoroughly check you out,” Köhler counsels.

If blocked arteries is the problem, an improved diet and exercise regimen may reverse the damage and get your penis back in working order, he says.

And, as a short-term measure, your doctor may also give you erectile dysfunction drug such as Viagra to help your sex life.
